Checked in today, for a well earned break away with friends to celebrate my daughter's 5th birthday.First impression; a very cramped site with very , almost too small parking spaces, especially with a family sized vehicle.The cottage itself is well kept, however I'm struggling to see the VIP element.We did get paint on our hands and costs from the gate.... not good.We checked the hot tub to find it half full, they were quick to come and fill it up with a garden hose however this meant we cant use it until the morning.We checked the temperature a few hours later to find the hot tub is half full again. Called reception and they really didn't care.I also nipped into reception earlier to discuss the issues and was sent away to wait in my lodge as the receptionist thought that answering the phone was more important. We still haven't had someone come and speak to us.To add further salt to the wound, our friends are staying in another lodge and whilst they have a hot tub with water.... the outside light doesn't work.... So we can't use that either.This place is really disappointing!! Worst hoseasons booked accommodation we've stayed in.
What a lovely part of the Island. Period. Colwell is a lovely looking place. They are massively renovating the site. The island needs this sort of place as a lot of sites are pretty tired. The accommodation is pretty top spec and looked really inviting. I had a chance to look but didn't stay. The staff seemed really nice and I travel quite a bit and that goes a long way for me. Bet it will look cracking once it's all finished.
Absolutely calm and relaxing, with the beach a stone's throw away from your eco cottage. Would stay again.
Overall great place. Staff friendly and very helpful. Only minor issue was the hot tub not heated when we arrived which then took a further 10-12 hours to warm up. Well equipped property but would love to see a brush and mop in here. Will use again for sure as a quick R&R break on the Island.
A lovely cottage, but not ideal for babies, young children as there is a shower only. Plenty of lovely walks. Hot tub superb after a long walk. Have been here a few times and twice since the referbishment.
